What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form exercise that concentrates on strengthening the body with a specific emphasis on core strength. It was devised by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century whom it was named after and is practised worldwide.
What can Pilates help with?
Pilates exercises have a focus on core strengthening but can help with a variety of conditions including back pain, joint pain, weak pelvic floor, flexibility, balance, post injury rehabilitation, improving posture, overall muscle tone and mental health to name just a few.
Why choose us?
Our physiotherapists have been trained through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates institute (APPI) which has been recognised as the industry leader in safe and effective Pilates exercises. The program has been devised to be suitable for all levels of fitness and ability. The exercises are predominantly mat/floor based and focus on spinal stability, pelvic stability, strength/conditioning and pain.
We offer Pilates as a group class or on a one to one basis. The group class is limited to a small group to allow us to monitor and adapt the exercises specifically to suit your level of ability. We also offer one to one private sessions which can be held at one of our clinics or in your home (local area only).
What do I need?
All you will need for your Pilates session is a mat and towel. All other equipment will be provided during the session. Please feel free to contact our main clinic for further advice.
