Spinal Manipulation

Following a thorough assessment, your physiotherapist will discuss appropriate treatment with you. This may include spinal manipulation (a small, rapid movement of a localised joint) which is aimed at restoring normal joint movement and providing pain relief. This, however, is only part of your treatment and will be followed with a specific exercise programme and advice to maintain the improvement seen in treatment and to prevent your symptoms reoccurring. Prior to manipulation of the spine, the physiotherapist will provide you with information on the benefits, risks and side effects of treatment to allow you to make an informed choice.

Joint Mobilisations

Joint mobilisations are gently movements of the spine or joints which the physiotherapist performs on you. The movements help to restore the normal glide of the joint, to aid lubrication and nutrition of the joint and to relieve pain and stiffness.
